I think that they are trying to preserve the DB's

Bronco realizes how tough it is to build decent depth in the defensive backfield. Seeing what happened to JJ last year has likely made him gun-shy about using DB's as returners. They never seem too concerned about using the best athletes as returners, otherwise Lasike wouldn't be a kick return guy.
