I've seen this facebook conversation in my feed. Thought you guys would like to read it. Some people's kids:
Guy 1: I think, for me, to qualify as a legend, you'd have to be able to say, would I love to have a guy just like him (or even him) on the team today, tomorrow, next season. For McMahon, I would quit watching BYU football if their star player was just like mcmahon, its great to have a winning team, but there is no scenario in which I would ever want someone just like McMahon on the team. I don't know how I could consider anyone a legend that I can say that about.
Guy 1's Dad: He did not uphold the BYU honor code while he was at BYU. If he played today, I hope he would be suspended, not given a pass. He spoke of BYU and the staff in derisive terms and was not of upstanding character. He violated the honor code on a regular basis. His behavior and demeanor remind me a little of Charles Barkley, but Sir Charles didn't attend BYU, so I hold him to a different standard. I agree with Dan. His athleticism is not in question here, but rather his character and behavior off the field. I believe that must figure into the equation as well. I don't agree that he is a college legend in every sense of the term. I take away lots of points for bad character, especially if the candidate claimed to abide by a high standard and didn't.
There is one bloke on there trying to talk some sense into them, but Guy 1 and his dad are sure that Jimmy Mac is not a BYU legend. I seriously can't believe people actually think like this.
