Especially with all the rumors this morning that Billy will be shopping Donaldson and the Shark this off-season.
Here's the reality as I see it:
- Our A's were THE WORST team in baseball in August and September.
- Billy traded the top-two prospects this season and one of the more promising young pitchers (Milone) in baseball.
- On paper, the bullpen should be among the best in baseball, but their confidence is clearly wrecked, as they blew nearly every save opportunity in August/September... that's a hard thing to fix.
- With Parker and Griffin coming back, the starting pitching should be excellent, but the lineup is akin to AAA talent.
- The Angels aren't going anywhere, the Mariners are improving, the Astros are improving dramatically, and I fully expect the Rangers to return to compete for the top-spot after losing 15 of their opening-day roster to injuries by the end of May.
The honestly expect the A's to finish dead-last in the division next year.
