Season Analysis
A good friend of mine is a former lineman for the U. He is not a BYU hater, but he is a U fan.

Here is his analysis of the BYU season:

If BYU had Nate Orchard from the U they would be undefeated. His comment was BYU gets NO pass rush, so what are the corners and safeties supposed to do, chase guys around the field for 10 seconds??
Then he shared these stats with me:
Sacks: UoU 33, BYU 12. Sacks by BYU lineman: 1, that is right, 1. remington Peck is the only lineman credited with a sack, the rest have come from LBs & DBs.
Contrast that with Utah and Nate Orchard has 10.5 sacks himself. Add the 5.5 sacks Hunter Dimick has and the U lineman are obviously getting much more pressure on the opposing QB than BYU is.

His comment for the reason Utah is even winning games is that the DB's can cover guys for a couple of seconds because they know Orchard and Dinick can get to the QB and force him to throw early. BYU's DBs have to chase guys forever because the QB can sit back in the pocket and not get pressured. This is why the defense looks so bad.

He felt if Orchard played for the Y, the whole defense would be different.

Just an observation from a Ute, but his comments really do seem to make sense.
