That only really addresses the defensive side of the ball, which I don't think is the only issue at play here.
And how long are we going to hold onto "lack of speed" as our excuse for why we can't just play average (or above-average) schemes in the modern football world. Plenty of BYU players have had success without being considered "fast". And there are other skills involved in football -- power, technique, focus, etc. -- that can and should compensate for lack of speed.
BYU can't be the only team out there that lacks "speed," but seems to be the only one that constantly uses it as an excuse. The reality is, I think it's a trendy buzzword that we hear a lot lately, but other teams don't appear to let it handcuff them like our team does.
