No where near P5 status...that gap is huge. If you're hanging your hat on the Pirates, anyone watching the ECU/UCONN game can see a collapse by that conference's premier team is brewing.
Besides, the P5 will do to any G5 conference what they did the last round of realignment--invite the best teams to the party. If...and that's a BIG if...the AAC starts making noise, it's top teams will leave, Southern Miss and Marshall will back-fill, and that conference will look even more like a zombie C-USA. The MWC was on the cusp of surpassing the Big East, but then Utah and TCU got the call up, and BYU left hoping for that same call. History has a way of repeating itself.
I'm so relieved that Boise State saw the writing on the wall when the Big East started sinking, and got off the newly-christened USS American Athletic. The MWC offers every opportunity the AAC promised, plus its regional and allowed us to work a nice TV deal with ESPN. Thanks, but no thanks, Mike Aresco.
