When Dick Harmon is using the word "embarrassing" more than once, BYU coaches better be paying attention. Harmon is a BYU homer that has been around the program forever. He doesn't jump ship unless there is cause. Until last night, I was putting most of this season on injuries. Now it is apparent the team is soft and mentally weak, has no leadership, and the talent is thin. And pathetically, the coaching staff never saw this coming. Bronco took way too long to move over to the defensive side of the ball and the baked in problems can't be fixed at this point.
The DL might be the worst I have ever seen at BYU. Is it a coincidence that the contributors are mainly Utah high school recruits?
Kaufusi
Peck
Taele
Pikula
Johnson and Tuiloma are from out of state but weren't highly recruited.
Why has BYU had such trouble recruiting DL and/or coaching them up? I don't expect these guys to be freaks of nature like Ziggy that can blow plays up in the backfield. I do expect them to control their gaps and make tackles by this point in the season.
