In the realm of players and coaches, there just isn't as much drama and hate on the field. There isn't. Yes, there is plenty of competitive feelings that go towards beating your brother on the other side of the ball at Utah, but at the end of the day, they are still coming from a market with a lot of close ties to each other.
I work with a former Aggie player, who grew up wanting to play for BYU. They didn't offer him, but Utah did. He took the Utah offer, but then switched to USU while on his mission. He knows Bronson Kaufusi and a bunch of those guys down at BYU. Knows them. Grew up with them, played with/against them.
You wouldn't think it was the case on internet fan boards like this one, and you'd think that articles from former players like Derik this week (excellent article) would mean that these guys are truly thugs that can't be civil in public. But they are. They'll still trash talk and stay competitive, but it's still friendly. The majority of the DRAMA is left on the field.
