FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP, MI – A new era is underway at the Muskegon area's top shopping destination.

Less than two months after longtime general manager Michael Hagen left The Lakes Mall in Fruitport Township, Jonathan Pittman has been hired to replace him.

Pittman, 36, began work on Dec. 1, near the start of the busy Christmas shopping season at the regional mall along the Harvey Street corridor.

A native of Los Angeles, Pittman had spent the last two and half years working as the assistant general manager at West Towne Mall in Madison, Wisc. Prior to that, he held several positions in security.

Pittman graduated with a degree in sociology from Brigham Young University where he also played football. His career working in malls began after a brief stint in the NFL with three teams including the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets.
