well, you see that is the problem... as a manager, I set goals to achieve
specific OUTCOMES, the stated GOAL is not nearly as important as if I reach the desired OUTCOME.

The problem for CB is that people equate Bronco's GOALS with the OUTCOME that they desire, rather than the one desired by the BOT. The BOT really couldn't care less if we have a National Championship. That isn't an OUTCOME they consider practical or realistic for BYU as an institution. They DO consider the OUTCOME of teaching young men to live gospel centered lives in the atomosphere of a football team, and to honor their committments to the school and the Honor Coade as OUTCOMES that are acceptable.

Wins and Losses are very low on the list of measureables as far as the purpose of our football program and the institution that sponsors it.

And yes, I've sat face to face with the President of BYU and heard those same words from him. If BYU wins 12 games and goes to a National Championship, wonderful. If they go 6-6, he loses no sleep over it so long as players don't embarrass the university.
