Are wrong in their assessment, or BYU is. Most kids that are as high profile as him have easy excuses to not go on missions. He could be in the NFL in a few years. To me the fact that despite offers from the best schools in the country, he is willing to put his career on hold for 2 years to serve God tells me something about his character. It certainly tells me more about his character than internet rumors that have zero evidence.
Doesn't mean he's perfect. But there is no evidence this isn't a great kid, and plenty of evidence that the kid has the right priorities. It may be that Bronco thinks the other guys he's offered are better and have nothing to do with his character. I hate that every time BYU doesn't offer a kid people talk about how the kid has character problems, or isn't BYU material. What an arrogant bunch.
