I think after a while, it's just easier for pundits to assign reasons like "bad defense, can't create his own shot, lacking quickness, etc" when the reality is he's just never got consistent minutes. Now it's almost impossible to break through because he's carrying these stigmas and is a victim of confirmation bias, IMO.
It's easy to say he can't guard Chris Paul. Well, no one can. Tonight, Paul, in a matter of minutes, scored ~10 in a row against lazy defense by Ben Gordon. But no one's going to give Gordon any trouble. The same thing happens to Jimmer, and boom...Jimmer's defense sucks. Confirmation bias.
