Jobs at my company require a clearance ... and BYU is very well known as a great school that produces excellent engineers who can get clearances.
Your first clearance investigation is crazy ..."How often do you drink?" "Never" "No really, it's not a problem, we just need to know how much you drink" "I don't drink at all" "Really, we just need to know" "I don't drink at all." "Oh, great"
Then you get to drugs, and a whole bunch of related stuff. The security people LOVE the Word of Wisdom, solid families, traditional values. Those are their keys to look for where possible problems arise ... so kids who from the #1 Cold Hard Sober school in the country always make the security investigators job easy.
So BYU has a great reputation at my company for great engineers and easy clearances.
(I have also heard that is very true for companies who want people with foreign language experience)
