He seems like of those guys who is very technically proficient in a lot of ways but just is not a good storyteller. His movies are too ham fisted. He uses CGI better than almost anyone, but he needs to work on engaging with his stories more.

Of course Aliens has been all over the map anyway. He could turn out to be an excellent choice, he just might need the right kind of assists.
