The original resort there, which is now a JW Marriott was built by a Japanese company so many of the guests were from Japan and spoke little English. I played with a middle-aged couple who were there on vacation. I asked the man what he did for a living and he said he owned a "grass" company. I said you must feel right at home on a golf course. He looked puzzled by my reply and repeated he owned a "grass" company and he pointed to the windows in a nearby home. I finally got it, he owned a "glass" company.
The round was equally memorable for how awful they were. Best gear and clothes money could buy and the worst players I've ever been paired with. It was a touturous 5 hour round with easily over a dozen lost balls.
Leaving tomorrow to play there on Saturday. Always enjoy Ko Olina. Next time try Koolau. It's amazing.
