Here's what I suggest
I prefer a larger compressor with a big tank (non portable) with a hose reel.
This is a really good price on a good compressor:
http://www.vpowerequipment.com/index.php/air-compressors/portable-21-gallon-125-psi-vertical-oil-lubricated-air-compressor.html
It has a 21 gallon tank and 2.5 hp motor for $150. $150 typically gets you a 6-8 gallon tank with a 1.5 HP motor. Then mount a hose reel on the wall next to it. something like this:
http://www.jbtoolsales.com/good-year-4678-50-x-3-8-retractable-air-hose-reel/
50' of hose is enough for most garages. I have a 150 foot reel because I need to be able to be able to air trailer tires out in the driveway.
