I just got a Kindle
Not a Kindle Fire, or Paperwhite or Voyage... just a plain old bottom-of-the-line Kindle.

I've got the kindle app on my iPad, so I didn't really "need" it, but wanted to get one for a few reasons...

1) I'm fascinated by "electronic ink". I've read a little about how it works. It's crazy to me that this thing emits no light. It's like a magic etch-a-sketch. Just as a device, it's fascinating to me.
2) I wanted something less expensive that I can take with me to places where I might not want to take an iPad for fear of damage or theft... like the beach or whatever. I could stomach having something happen to a $59 device that only has books on it.
3) As strange as it seems, the Kindle app seems to drain the battery on the iPad more than you'd think. Plus, the iPad just isn't great for outdoor reading... the battery gets hot, the screen gets a glare. If I'm reading in the passenger seat of the car, I have to hold it so it doesn't reflect light into the driver's eyes.
4) I've got Amazon Prime, but couldn't access the Kindle Owners Lending Library because I didn't have a Kindle device. Now I can.

So far, I love it. And the new ones even have an "experimental web browser", so I can browse CB on my Kindle if I've got a WiFi signal. What could be better?
