My thoughts on the transfers
I have heard Chatman is going to surprise alot of people next year. He not as athletic as Bartley, but hes more polished and a much better shooter, plus hes a solid defender. I think Bartley realized KC Fischer, Emery, and Chatman were all going to be ahead of him. Plus Hartsock and Seljaas were going to get alot of minutes at the 3. Bartley has a ton of potential but he never realized it on the offensive end of the floor. I'm sad to see him go, but he wasn't going to have a huge impact this year.

If Austin isn't healthly this team will be in a lot of trouble without Nielsen. He might not have been a good defender, but he could block some shot and had a good jumper. We need more than one guy healthy guy over 6'8. Especially since Kaufusi still gets in foul trouble. If Nate doesn't come back we'll be seeing Shaw and Davis play the 5 at times, which isn't ideal at all. However, with Mika and Dastrup returning, Nielsen wasn't going to get hardly any minutes as a junior or senior. This transfer helps the cougs in the long term.

I am interested to see if Calvert has improved. I have a hard time believing that he'll be able to beat out the other guards for playing time, but who knows.

I think both of these guys had potential, but neither were going to be more than role players. Their leaving won't have a huge impact this year, but the year after next it will allow us to have extra schollies to sign some players who could have a bigger impact on the program.
