to try and find. If she backs up to icloud there is a good chance that icloud "thinks" they got deleted and so they are deleted from the icloud backup. If she backs up to her computer like you implied then she can restore to an older backup if she has one. She might lose changes she has made since last backup but at least it will save some information.
