Bronco's annual talk (outside of this offseason, he's finally learned thankfully) of national championships and "best ever____" kept hope alive for many fans like me that BYU football really was still somewhat of a contender for national prominence.

However you are right when you account for all that you mentioned and dial in expectations appropriately BYU is roughly a top 60 program as it's been the last 5 seasons.

Only thing I disagree with is the Lavell mention. While Lavell lost some bad games he also won several big time games as well.
