on purpose too. Back in the day the reigning champion would control when the
following year's playoffs would be held. As I understand it, Cal would purposely schedule the finals on a Sunday to eliminate BYU from challenging them. BYU was their main challenge back then, so their 'championship run' is tainted. As rugby has grown up, so have governing bodies that control the time and location of the playoffs. No more hanky-panky.
