I believe the message is something like this..
Young boy desires to play football for a college team. Is told by many media types that he is the BEST at that said position in YEARS or best that year. Young boy desires to go to BYU, finds out that the track record isn't all that great and decides hey BYU coaches, one of my desires in life is to at least get to the NFL. Can you get me to the NFL?

So there are two parts to this (always is). 1. Coaches should develop players to be and play at their best. That simply means now in college as well as developing for the NFL. 2. Players, desiring (and with the fore knowledge) that they are good enough to at least play at the next level will gravitate towards a University that will meet not only the academic, spiritual side as well as the athletic side of the young man life.

IMO, both parties should come together and really have a heart to heart talk...1. Am I good enough coach to at LEAST play at the next level and 2. Will you help me achieve MY goals (which really helps BYU in the process). Does that openness exist at BYU? Ask the coaches and players that question, then you will know.

Same could be said for woman desiring such goals.
