One of my all-time favorite NBA memories
was hearing the announcement over the PA system at the MTC that the Bulls had defeated the Jazz in Game 6 of the 98 finals. I grew up in Northern Illinois (and I still live here) so I became a Bulls fan. There was a quite a bit of smack talk between myself and other missionaries in the MTC during the finals. We had one of our MTC teachers tell us about each game the next day in class. There were also a ton of missionaries that would beg some of the workers there to tell them what happened so they just got sick of it and announced it over the PA system.

The really funny part was that the moment that they announced the final score for Game 6 was when I was with my district at a devotional (I think it was a Sunday evening) right during the closing prayer. The missionary giving the prayer seemed to give an extra long prayer, but I didn't hear a word of it as I just intently listened to the game announcement. When the prayer ended, I saw the biggest Jazz fan in our district get up and leave in a hurry with a huge, disgusted look on his face. I was happy though.
