Had constant soreness in my neck which resulted in constant pain and tightness. Visited the chiropractor and he gave me a simple exercise that eliminated the pain. It was apparently from working too long in front of a monitor and not having the best body position. He had me sit or stand and press my head against the wall for a minute, rest 30 seconds and repeat 3 times. You can do it in the car when you are waiting for a light to change. Strengthened my neck muscles and pain and tightness went away.
When I realized the cause, I started exercising which has kept me aligned so I don't need to see the chiropractor except if I throw something out. Also got reading glasses so my head posture was better when working on the computer. Got a larger monitor and switched to a left mouse. Do the neck exercises in the steam room 5-6 times a week and have had no problems since.
