You can choose to believe the better story (that God exists and the comforting, exotic miracles you associate him with) or the one flavored with discomfort which is disappointing, disturbing and brutal. The point is assumptions make no factual difference since there is no way to ascertain the truth. So, there always is the possibility of shaping your life as you want to, probably in its most beautiful form by believing in God.
