I know the odds are not in BYU's favor but this is the closest we will come to making a big-time splash for a while. Taysom would have to not only stay healthy but prove he can anticipate guys coming open in the passing game. Anae has to do better of getting the passing game going and not putting Hill in a position to run the ball so much. The defense has to improve 10 fold including pressuring QBs. No more of this crap where our LBers can't get past the opposing OL on blitzing. If BYU is ever going to have a top 5 season again, it will be because our defense. We have a great schedule this season and the Missouri game in November will keep the attention on BYU if the unthinkable happens.
Both Nebraska and Michigan can be teams that struggle to begin the season but could end up strong. Boise is good for another 9-10 wins and Utah St should be at least an 8-win team. We get a lot of decent to good AAC teams in October which will keep our SOS decent. UCLA is also beatable as they will have a new QB.
Our head coach though needs to have learned from overlooking teams like Florida State and improve our defensive pressure. I'm fine with our defensive formation if we have studs up front but even then you have to mix it up better against better teams. You cannot EVER just sit back and hope the other team makes a mistake. You have to take it to them.
