I also find it easy to spot my own name on a page, or hear it when spoken
It's not surprising that young American missionaries pick out their own language spoken in a foreign crowd.
Obnoxious Americans are an embarrassment wherever they show up, but missionaries' ability to pick them out of a crowd isn't necessarily evidence that they're any more obnoxious than other tourists.
