There is no question
that many evangelicals, to include Baptists, absolutely hate Mormons. Not every evangelical, not every Baptist. Some actually practice Christianity and love their fellow men, even if they are Mormons.

It's unfortunate because in this day and age of Christian religions being under attack in America, we need to stick together. Although the "Christian" religions, as they see themselves, do not consider Mormons, the LDS church, to be Christians. They consider Mormonism to be a cult and are convinced that we are all going to hades and won't be coming back.

I've talked to plenty of evangelicals, including Baptists, and they are really anti-Mormon. Therefore, it is no surprise that many people in the Big12 Bible Belt are not very supportive of bringing in BYU. BUT, I believe their stance has softened a little bit the last few years and hopefully will continue to move toward some grudging acceptance of BYU. We've got a few friends out there in the evangelical community. Not many but a few.

Hopefully, they will eventually realize that Mormons and evangelicals/Baptists have enough in common that we really are on the same side. At least I think we are. I hope we are and I hope they come to understand that too.

Mormons are not the devil. BYU would be a good member of the Big12.
