This is how I felt for the first four games last year. I told others
last year that a healthy Taysom was going to be tough to beat. He seemed to have "it" - but his "it-ness" was impacted by:
- Too many mental mistakes and penalties on offense.
- an inconsistent O-line
- injuries at key positions - Jamal W...and others...
- a defense that would not give the O enough rest or create timely, field changing turnovers.
With that said, the USU game was a disaster - but I still thought we would settle down and start scoring. I thought TH was just starting to settle down and move the ball downfield, but then the tackle happened. Once TH got hurt, it was OVER.
My feelings with TH in the game greatly resemble my feelings when Detmer played. We can win every game and we can come back if we get behind. BUT - even with this belief, a BAD defense can cause these feelings to fade quickly.
Bottom line - I believe that we should be able to out-score teams on our 2015 schedule. TH still has the "it" factor. Our O should be powerful.
I am just not sure we can consistently stop them with our D.
Time will tell.
