Nissan teaming up with Cummins is kind of a big deal IMHO and I am not sure FCA should have cut ties. I'd have personally preferred that Cummins stay in an American brand. But this is one American manufacturer that has the market penetration and the brand following to make a pretty solid go of it in the diesel market.
