With the negativity toward him at byu and perception that he is just Bronco's boy, I think it would benefit his career even if he had to take a step back at a lower division. I assume he may have considered this and had a hard time finding another college job.

I think he is competent as a position coach, although player communication and team building doesn't appear to be a strength. On the other hand, he is a hard worker, reportedly puts in the most time preparing and working.
