ALUFs are in a tough spot. On the one hand, they hate BYU and don't want to
be associated with BYU..."BYU doesn't represent me". But their first argument when BYU does something that they don't like is that BYU gives the Church a black eye and reflects poorly on members of the Church.
They want to be totally disconnected AND fully represented by BYU at the same time, depending on the argument.
