I'm not happy to be losing arguably one of the top-5 keepers in the world, but I'm glad they got 40M euros plus a quality player in return. De Gea has been United's best player for the past 2-3 seasons, so it is a big loss from that standpoint. However, if they would have kept De Gea, he would have been mentally checked out all season waiting for his contract to expire on June 30th so that he could leave on a free transfer. At least the distraction is gone, the team can move forward, and they got something out of the deal.
