Brian Cashman saw the Yankees ahead by 7 games at the All-Star break
and decided to do nothing while the Blue Jays and Rangers made smart moves to shore up their teams' weaknesses. The Yankees needed to spend a little more to get another solid starter and another solid bat, and we'd probably have won the division. The Yankees are too old and frail to last a full season (see Teixeira, Beltran, etc).
