for about 25 years... he had the ball he was given when he set the record... went down on the field and gave it to Chris

Virgil Carter won BYU's 1st conf. title, was a 6th round pick, & was Bill Walsh's experimental QB w/ the Bengals for the West Coast offense.

Phil Odle was BYU's 1st great receiver. 3x All-WAC, All-American, & his 25 Rec TD's are still #4 in BYU history. Passed away in 2006. #BYUSN

The pre-LaVell teams don't get a lot of love historically. The 1965 team set the stage for the 70s BYU football revolution w/ great players.
