This is what I was taught, but also that once you use a number, you should
continue to use numbers for the rest of the sentence. So you would say it as the OP had it:
The 12 month agreement will expire 1 month after no payment is received but we also notify you 2 months from the expiration date.
Once you type the number 12, the rest in the sentence should be numbers as well, even though they're under 10.
