I think Taysom might be the most exciting player to ever put on a BYU uniform. If healthy he might have been the best Cougar of all time. With a healthy Taysom, I think BYU goes 11-1 this season. However, this is exactly the problem, whether it is his style of play, his body type, playcalling, whatever...fact is Taysom is not a durable athlete.
I have no faith in him finishing an entire season. What are the coaches supposed to say to Tanner next year when he is called upon in game 1, 2 or 3 to replace an injured Taysom? We thought you were the man all along?
Tanner saved this year in relief. We would easily be 5-5 without him coming on in relief. What he has done coming home straight off a mission and filling in has been incredible. He deserves to get all the starter reps in the offseason. He deserves to get all the throws with the #1's. He deserves to not fill in for an offense built around Taysom's strengths.
I would love to have Taysom back but not at risk of hurting Tanner's development. Tanner is the future and the future is now.
