Lots of head coach openings next year, with the recent rumors of LSU and Texas, and with the confirmed openings at places like USC, Miami, South Carolina, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Maryland, UCF, Illinois, Syracuse, Iowa State, Hawaii.
And that's just the openings that have already happened. There are always additional openings after the season. And that's not even mentioning the domino effect, where additional vacancies will occur when a coach leaves his current school for another one then needs to be replaced. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I think there is a lack of quality candidates to fill all of the high-profile positions, and AD's don't want to make a big mistake with the high-dollar amounts needed to sign a top coach. See Texas and Nebraska for examples of recent hires that don't look to be panning out and could set those programs back even further. You can bet that agents' phones are buzzing right now.
