Yes, it's awesome.
I'm not good at it, but I can already tell it is the best of both worlds. You can fly fish without all the equipment.
If you can make it up to Layton, there is a gun store called FirearmsPro that carries the full line of Dragontail Tenkara rods. You should head up and try them out.
