of the season, it would represent less of a stumble than they have experienced in any season since 2010-2011. Still, i agree BYU should have won by 20.
But LB has some major jelling problems also and i think Monson is a very good coach and will figure it out. As their forthcoming solid players from the four corners of the country find their identity, they could be a decent team.
Watched LB lose to SDSU last night 76-72. They had come all the way back in the second half and were up by 3 late when the LB senior Faust threw the ball in the face of his freshman opponent for a momentum changing technical. LB had a lot of problems with SDSU's length in the first half but out rebounded them for the game.
Can't disagree with you that BYU will "regret this loss down the road" but given what this team had to learn, it may have been necessary. IMO, the MVSU close win was even more troubling and that game hurt their ranking on Pomeroy much more. But if the Cougars find your "rabbit" at the Huntsman and thereafter play closer to potential, those early season struggles might be viewed with less regret.
Hopefully, the games where both Fischer and Emery play poorly (combined 2-15 and 0-8 vs Long Beach) are behind them or we could see another stumble. Perhaps Coach Rose is developing an emergency plan and will find enough resources should that problem arise again.
Restraining optimism for tonight. BYU absolutely has the talent to win. But's it's impossible to know how a single game will go. So much depends on biorhythms of key players.
