Utah Directional Confusion
Why do an unusual number of people in Utah (not all, but a surprising number) us the word "down" in reference to traveling north, and "up" when referring to traveling south? Case in point, we live in San Diego. My daughter has been corresponding with a boy in Utah for some time, and he just asked if she could come "down here" (Utah) to go to his prom (I joked with my daughter that I did not want her going to Mexico for a prom). I have heard this many times over the years, but only from Utahns, never from any one else. Anyone have a theory?
