Predictions on Big 12 Expansion . . .
This is based on what I've gleaned from a combination of an unhealthy obsession with big 12 expansion, both on cougarboard and beyond, and wishful thinking.

Having listened to Boren and Gee, followed by Bowlsby's and Schultz's press conference, I am 95% confident the Big 12 will expand within the next two years.

The more pressing question, obviously, is how many they will add and who they will add. If Texas can be persuaded to immediately (i.e., within the next year) fold/merge/meld the Longhorn Network into a Big 12 Network, I think the Big 12 adds four teams for the 2017 season (BYU, Cincy, Uconn, and Houston). Conference networks require inventory, and the most successful conference networks (SEC and Big 10) are associated with 14-team conferences. I think the "data dump" delivered to the Big 12 this spring will advocate as much.

Most reputable journalists think the immediate dissolution of the Longhorn Network is extremely unlikely. If they are right, and a Big 12 Network remains more aspirational than realistic at the moment, I think the Big 12 still adds two for the 2017 season (BYU and Cincy/UConn--I think there will be a battle royale between those two schools), but holds off on the other two until the network becomes more of a possibility.

I know that nothing is guaranteed, and I know that Bowlsby and Schultz were talking about a long process with lots of data points and information. But if the history of conference realignment has taught us anything, it is that by the time a conference starts talking openly about reviewing the data and exploring the possibilities, the expansion train has already traveled far down the tracks.
