Those types of rumors only hurt us with the ignorant fans. The presidents actually look at what the actual facts are when voting, particularly with the independent groups vetting the various candidates.

Having said that, actually not playing on Sundays and the older players (though no more than a couple of years older) likely will play into the decision. I also recall there was some concern about the money the Church might put into athletics; while it doesn't currently, there was some fear that the Church might start putting money in to help us compete monetarily with the programs at the top of the league. The fear is we might, at least monetarily, become another Texas.
