This is an interesting discussion. Because the Lavell hire is only seen as #1
looking back. At the time, there was nothing to the event that made it special. Same with Jim McMahon coming to BYU. If we are only talking about events recognized, at the time, for their importance, then we would have to say:

4. Independence
