That seems really unlikely based on how this all transpired.
Even the B12 isn't so dumb that they would spend millions of dollars and aste tons of time just to end up making a few bucks from one of two contracts.
They wanted to expand and BYU was one of the teams. Some combo of tv resistance, #12 disagreement, and athlete ally killed the deal IMO.
