The reason I prefer the 3-4 over the 4-3 is because your base defense can still be a 4-man rush, but the offense doesn't know which of the 4 LBers is going to be the 4th man on any given play.

The amount of blitzing in a 3-4 vs. a 4-3 is quite different, generally.
