Mo Langi may be a project, but I will go on the record and say that he will be
the biggest unknown recruit signed by BYU except with the exception of Ziggy--mostly because he has actually done something and we really have no idea what Langi can do. Perhaps it will come back to bite me and I'm sure that if I am wrong, people will pull up this post, but he does not carry his weight like most people his size. Adding to the mystique is that there is almost nothing known about him, nor is there much video footage available, so my opinion means pretty much nothing. However, since that never stops people commenting, these are my reasons. He grew up in Tonga where over 50% of the population is significantly overweight due to diet and a sedentary lifestyle. Once he is on a restricted diet and participating in a regulated weight program, the weight will come off. He is an almost a 4.0 student at one of the most difficult and academically strenuous schools in Tonga. This may mean nothing, but I think that it indicates that he will be able to pick up the nuances and laws governing whatever position they place him in. I would think it would be defensive line. On the line, he could occupy two linemen and at least plug a hole, but I think that with some training, he will be unstoppable and will be in the backfield quite quickly if need be. He seems to be a hard-working, intelligent young man. He is incredibly quick--not only for his size, but what appears to be his 40 time would place him in the upper echelon at the NFL Combine for positions that he might play. His 40 time does not tell the whole story. He appears to exhibit a quickness that belies his size. He seems to be able to react quickly and get his body to respond--even more quickly than other, much smaller athletes with whom he is playing. His weight combined with his quickness and speed could be quite dangerous and difficult to stop. For reference, even though most people have seen this, his quickness is phenomenal for his size.
