Seriously, though, I once made what I thought was a self-evident, unobjectionable observation on an LDS-oriented board: People are fat because they put too much food in their mouths. Eat less and you will weigh less.
What could be more obvious?
Apparently, it wasn't as obvious as I had thought. Turns out that almost every fat person in the US suffers from a glandular disorder that causes obesity. Who knew? A couple of people actually told me that their calorie-restricted diets made them gain weight.
So food intake is actually not related to obesity. It appears that food itself is unrelated to weight. Those pictures of starving children in India and Africa? Apparently, their starvation is not from lack of food.
