Mexico is good enough right now to challenge the South American teams
They send a team to Copa America every 4-year cycle, and they usually do very well: since 1993, they have finished in 2nd place twice, and 3rd place three times.

In successive Gold Cups, Jamaica has beaten both the US and Mexico en route to a Gold Cup final.

They didn't even make the final 6 of WC qualifying. They're hit and miss still.

This is the main thing. MLS is a double edged sword with regard to our relative

They'll always do well in a short tournament like the Gold Cup.

Costa Rica, Honduras, and Panama are still 3, 4, and 5 in my book. Just last

They aren't eligible for the World Cup so I didn't include them.
