Unfortunately, G5 teams do not get the benefit of the doubt regardless.
As illogical as it is, the mere fact that a G5 beats a P5 might be touted as evidence that the P5 is down or had a down game. The only solution is to beat big names consistently and convincingly on a big stage. You know which teams I would cite to as evidence for that. BYU hasn't gotten that job done adequately.
